A safer, more reliable facility is your goal. It’s our mission to help you get there.

Arc Flash hazards threaten your most valuable assets – Your Personnel & Equipment. Companies across the globe face these hazards everyday, and risk extensive downtime, fines, equipment damage, personnel injury and even fatalities. But there is a solution. We are committed to helping you protect what’s valuable. inoLECT offers the total package in Arc Flash solutions – from Analysis to Implementation, we’ll assess every area, diagnose existing problems and provide you with options customized to your facility and power system.

Electrical System Studies:
Power Systems studies performed by inoLECT provide the customer with a comprehensive analysis of reliability, load flow, shirt circuit, motor starting, transient stability and protective device coordination. Otherwise referred to as ‘Incident Energy Analysis’, these studies are one of our core services. NFPA 70E mandates that an electrical system analysis be performed at least every five (5) years to account for expansions, equipment replacement or anything else that could affect the results of an arc flash hazard analysis. Using the latest in advanced programming, from software such as ETAP, EasyPower, and SKM, we can perform data collection, calculations, update existing models and/or develop new ones.

On-Site Data Collection

A specialized system analysis electrical engineer from inoLECT will collect data required for the power system analysis. This minimizes the amount of resources supplied by the customer, and provides insight to the overall condition of the electrical equipment. This hands-on approach is useful in identifying problem areas that might go otherwise undetected – which is essential to the overall power system reliability.

Reliability Studies:

The primary concern of any facility’s electrical department is the minimize power interruptions and maximize operations. A power system reliability study provides recommendations to help maximize production by evaluating the condition of the electrical equipment, the operating configuration and the electrical maintenance practices.

Short Circuit Analysis:

Even the best designed power systems experience short circuits, resulting in extremely high levels of current. Protective devices such as fuses and circuit breakers are required to quickly and safely isolate the short circuit with minimal damage to equipment and minimal disruption of operations. Additionally, cables, buses and switches must withstand the mechanical and thermal stresses associates with the high level of current. A short study completed by inoLECT compares the system’s available fault current with the momentary and interrupting ratings of equipment. All underrated equipment is identified and recommendations are made to provide a safe interruption of short circuits.

Load Flow Analysis:

A load flow study performed by inoLECT’s teams will model the effects of load changes or system configuration changes on the system power flow and system voltages. The recommendations provided will assist operators in ensuring efficient operation, minimizing operating losses, and maintaining reliability.

Motor Starting Analysis:

A motor starting analysis will model system voltage levels throughout the starting period for large motors. These studies should be performed prior to the addition of large motors or prior to power system configuration changes. The results provided will ensure sufficient voltage is maintained to deter motor contactors from opening. Starting times are also investigated to eliminate the possibility of damage to the motor.

Transient Stability Analysis:

For power systems including in-plant generation, maintaining system stability during transient disruptions becomes a concern. A transient stability study will indicate the ability of synchronous machines to remain in sync and will indicate the ability of induction motors to maintain the appropriate torque to carry load, thus maintaining operations during disruptions. Transient stability studies can also simulate the dynamic behavior of the power system during motor starts.

Protective Device Coordination:

Short circuits on electrical networks cause reduced system voltages, hence loss of rotating equipment and interruptions in operation. A protective device coordination provides equipment settings to maximize selectivity and minimize operating times of interrupting devices. This minimizes the duration and voltage drop associated with the fault, thus increasing the plant operating time. While the study maximizes the use of existing equipment, recommendations are also made to increase reliability by the installation of additional protection schemes.

Reports:

The typical report provided by the inoLECT team includes supporting documentation for the acquired field data and any assumptions made in the modeling of the power system. Analysis of the existing equipment is provided stating any shortfalls in the system. Recommendations for improvement of the power system are also made, including budgetary estimates.

Our team is proud to be one of the the few companies in the world to deliver the total package under one roof, including Customer Education, Data Collection, Analyses, Design, Manufacturing, Commissioning, Training and Continued Maintenance.
